"Getting started in counseling can seem overwhelming and even scary, but together we can make the process life-changing."

Getting Started

Getting started in counseling can seem overwhelming --even scary-- but I want to join you in this life-changing process.  So if you have questions, I'm happy to spend the time answering your concerns. Therapy involves a significant commitment of time, money, and effort, so it is important that you feel comfortable with the therapist with whom you are working.

INITIAL REQUEST

Most people contact me through email or phone to establish initial contact. If you haven't contacted me yet, please do so by clicking here or by emailing me at michael@newleafcounselingboise.com. Once we have agreed upon a day and time to meet, I will set you up with an account through my practice software.

Client PORTAL

You may access your Client Portal by clicking the link at the top-left of the website or by clicking here. You can access and update your client information, review documents, schedule and manage your appointments, view invoices and statements, and pay bills -- all online.

Forms

All of my practice forms and disclosures are available to view and sign electronically via your client portal. These documents include my professional disclosure statement, your rights as a client, practice policies, and more.

The First appointment

The first session is a 90-minute intake appointment. In addition to the tasks above, we discuss matters in more detail to help us both better understand your situation and context and your goals for counseling. Then, we collaboratively decide on an initial treatment plan to structure and hopefully meet those goals.
